Billy Joe Rylander's Obituary
Bill Rylander was born August 11, 1932 to Maud and John Rylander in Port Lavaca, Texas. Bill, along with his older brother Melvin and younger sisters Molly and Cathy, grew up in Port Lavaca where they made lasting memories with extended families and friends.After high school he joined the US Navy and served during the Korean War. Later he went to the University of Houston and earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering. While still in school he began working at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for Dr. Denton Cooley. This is where he met the love of his life and in 1957, he married Mary Catherine Majure. They moved to Galveston, Texas where he worked for the University of Texas Medical Branch, then in 1965 they moved to Richardson, so Bill could join Texas Instruments. It was here they raised their five children, Cathy Anne, Carole, Cynthia, Michael, and John, became active in the St. Paul the Apostle Church Community, met life-long friends, and celebrated 59 years of marriage.Bill loved everything to do with ships and the sea, spending time with his family, traveling with Mary Catherine and friends, participating in bible study, and spending time in his yard. He was loved by family and friends.Memorial service will be on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243
