Billy Joe Thomas' Obituary
Billy Joe Thomas, a retired Certified Petroleum Landman, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 in Dallas. TX. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Tx. 75243. Mr. Thomas was born March 9, 1934 in Kemp, Texas. He was a graduate of Forest Avenue High School and attended Arlington State College. Billy was a U.S. Army veteran and throughout his life was also involved in coaching various baseball and softball teams. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn Jane Thomas, who died in 2002, and a brother, Donnie Ray Thomas, who died in 2004. Survivors include daughter Traci Thomas, her fiancee Douglas Stryker, and grandsons Joshua Melton and Chris Melton; daughter Teri Thomas Cowan, husband Don Cowan Jr., grandchildren Vincent Gutierrez, Alexander Gutierrez, Thomas Cowan and Laura Cowan; brother Maxie Thomas, and sister, Nancy Kay Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Soceity.
