Billy Doyle Wilson's Obituary
Billy Doyle Wilson, born in Paducah, TX on July 13, 1932, to Doyle & Clara Mae Wilson, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2015. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University, served in the US Navy overseas where he met and married Elizabeth “Liz” Roberts, thereafter adopting four baby children from Buckner Baptist Children’s Home in Dallas, TX. After military service, he gained employment with the Travelers Insurance Companies where he retired 35 years later; after stops in Lubbock, TX, Charlotte, NC, Birmingham, AL, Hartford, CT and finally, Dallas, TX. Billy also was a certified football referee for over 30 years officiating peewee, high school and college football games throughout the families’ places of residence. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Richardson, TX where he sang in the choir. He was admired for his ALWAYS positive attitude, his classic sayings of “everythings’ jammed up, and jelly-rolled tight”, “it only costs 20% more to go first class” and” I’m marvelously fantastic, if I was any better, I couldn’t stand it”. His wife, Liz preceded him in death in 1994, and he is survived by his son, Bob Wilson and wife, Lisa and their children, Oliver, Blaine and Anna; son, Jim Wilson, and his partner, Michael; daughter, Missy Wilson; daughter, Mary Wilson-Johnson and husband, Scott and their children, Cody & McKensey. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Wilson-Schwartz, and husband, Dale and their children, Eddie Schwartz and wife, Stacy and Dalelyn Schwartz; nephews, Adrian, David and Joe Roberts and niece, Lee Roberts. The visitation for Billy will be March 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service for Billy will be had at First Baptist Church in Richardson, TX, March 13, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
