Galvan, Blanca Margarita Born: November 22, 1932 Departed: August 20, 2009 Beloved wife and mother, Blanca (Blanche) M. Galvan slipped away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on August 20th, 2009. Blanca was preceded in death by her mother Delia Pena, her father Eustolio Pena and her loving stepmother, Cleotilde Pena. She is survived by her husband Daniel I. Galvan; her children, Linda A. Galvan, Daniel E. Galvan, Patricia J. Davidson and her sisters Helen Sanchez, Delia Pena and Mary Louise Godnich-Kelly. Blanca was a loving and devoted grandmother to her four cherished grandchildren; Richard G. Davidson, Lauren A. Davidson, Alexander C. Galvan and William E. Galvan. Blanca was born on November 22nd, 1932 in Weslaco, Texas. She graduated from San Augustine High school in 1950 and later from Incarnate Word College in 1954. Blanca married her Aggie sweetheart, Daniel I. Galvan on February 6th, 1955. They remained married for 54 years. In addition to devotion to her family, Blanca was a passionate and dedicated elementary school teacher for 35 years. She provided elementary education to thousands of children from a multitude of backgrounds. Blanca taught school in Laredo, San Antonio, Gallup (New Mexico) and finally, in Richardson, Texas at Mohawk Elementary school, where she retired. Blanca was a devout Catholic. Together, she and Dan attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic church for 40 years. In a symbol of mutual devotion they renewed their wedding vows on their 25th wedding anniversary. Join us in a celebration of a life well lived beginning with a viewing at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, August 23rd at Restland Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on August 23rd, also at Restland Funeral Home.
