Bo Young Kim's Obituary
Bo Young Kim, age 80, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022, at MD Anderon of Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by his two children and wife of 48 years.
Bo was born on January 8, 1942, to Ee-soon Kim and Gahp-soon Kim in Daejeon, South Korea. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics at Seoul National University, he served as a medic in the Korean army for three years. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Seoul National University to complete his Master’s Degree in Education and worked as a teaching assistant at the university.
In 1973, Bo moved to the United States to pursue his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. The following year, he returned to Seoul, South Korea, to marry his wife, Youn Sil Kim, who relocated to the US with him shortly thereafter.
Bo was a small business owner until he retired in 2013. He served as a deacon before becoming an elder at the Korean Central United Methodist Church. He loved to read and teach the passages of scripture and had been drafting a book of biblical stories. Bo enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing, and had visited 40 states in his venture to see every state in the US. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Youn; their son, Michael Kim and wife, Laura Kim, of Grand Prairie; their daughter, Nancy Kim of Austin, Texas; and by several siblings in South Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents.
