Bobbie Jean Turner's Obituary
HIDEAWAY – Beloved mother and devoted wife, Bobbie Jean Turner, 74, of Hideaway and formerly of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at her residence with her husband at her side following a brief illness. Services are set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Restland Wildwood Chapel, Dallas, with entombment in Abbey Mausoleum under the direction of Restland Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner, who was born in Dallas on July 27, 1934, graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas before attending Texas Tech University. At Tech she was a charter member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She also was a sorority sweetheart, representing Tri Delta in various campus endeavors. It was there she met her husband, Jim Turner, a Texas Tech graduate and captain of the Red Raider football team. They were married in Dallas on Aug. 1, 1953, and during their 55 years of marriage lived in Hobbs and Farmington, N.M., Denver, Colo., Odessa, Midland and Dallas while her husband was an executive with Dow Oilfield Service Co. in many capacities. The Turners moved to Hideaway upon retirement. She was an avid duplicate bridge player with her many friends at Hideaway. Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her mother, Letha “Bo” Wilson Monroe, formerly of Dallas and Hideaway. Her father, Robert O. Wilson was killed in an automobile accident Feb. 4, 1935, shortly after she was born. Also surviving is her beloved son, Don Wayne Turner of Plano; a sister-in-law, Doris Wall of Seymour; and cousins, Mrs. Donna Giametta, Tyler, Linda Watkins, Springfield, Mo., and W.G. Keeler Jr., Dallas. Mrs. Turner was of the Baptist faith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Keep Hideaway Beautiful.
