Bobby "Bob" Blevins' Obituary
Bob Blevins, 90, was born in Dallas on September 5, 1927, to John and Ruby Blevins, and entered Heaven on Saturday, January 27, 2018. He was a loving husband to Jeanie Blevins, for 63 years. He was also a loving father to Jan, Don and Jon Blevins, and grandfather to Joshua, Robin, Carter, and Rachel Blevins.Bob graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in 1944 where he played basketball, and competed at the national level on the debate team. He was also the class president his senior year.He is an alumnus of the University of Texas, and an avid supporter of all things Longhorns.He also served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1953 as a Sargent 1st Class. His was always proud of his service to our country, but vowed he never wanted to experience another cold winter in his life, nor did he ever want to camp out ever again.He actively served as a Mason in the Scottish Rite for over 50 years at the Roy Stanley Lodge #1367 where he achieved the level of 32 degree. His heart for service was evident in his passion to serve in the many philanthropic opportunities the Shriners provided. He always beamed with pride when he would speak about the wonderful services the Shriners provided through their hospitals.Bob worked for Southland Life Ins. Co. for 32 years and served as Sr. Vice President of Underwriting and Government Affairs among other positions and over 10 years as Executive Director for Texas Life Insurance Assoc. He was a man who lead with integrity and upstanding values.He was a long-time member of DAC Country Club and loved to play golf with his numerous golf friends. He enjoyed being able to beat his sons in golf late into his life.Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson. He was a wonderful Christian man who lived all aspects of life exemplifying his faith. He was very patient, humble, and a wonderful example as a father and husband.Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 2 p.m. at Presbyterian Village North Chapel, 8600 Skyline Dr., Dallas, TX 75243.Donations can be made in honor of Bob Blevins to Scottish Rite Hospital or Hope Cottage (adoption agency).
