Bobby Ray Cole's Obituary
Bobby Ray Cole of Carrollton, Texas passed away on July 29, 2018 at the age of 85. Bobby was born to Robert Cole and Ila Austin Cole on February 3, 1933 in Childress, Texas. He married Paula Mitchell on December 26, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1967 he moved his family to Carrollton where he lived until his death.Bobby served three years in the United States Army and continued service to his country for eight years in the Texas National Guard. After leaving the service in 1963, he went to work in the insurance industry and continued in the business until his retirement in 2016.Bobby was an avid fisherman and on weekends could be found on North Texas lakes. At one time he held the Lake Palestine record for the largest black bass catch. He was also a skilled bowler who regularly participated in two or more leagues along with numerous city and state tournament events. He was an assistant scout master while raising his son and Bobby and his family enjoyed many camping trips together around the state.After the death of his wife, Bobby completely surprised his family and friends when he purchased a Porsche 911 and began attending his son’s vintage automobile racing events across the country. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America at the time of his death. Bobby attended First Baptist Church of Carrollton and was a valued member of his Sunday school class.Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, his brother, Larry Cole and his sister, Mary Armstrong. Surviving family members include: his daughter, DeAndrea Cole Vanderpool; his son and daughter in law, Steven and Judy Cole; his granddaughters, Corey Hamilton, Haley Cole Robinson and husband Chase Robinson and Allison Cole as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.Funeral service for Bobby will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Wildwood Chapel, Restland Cemetary, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas at 10:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
