Bobby Gene Dodson's Obituary
Bobby Gene Dodson, 82 , left his earthly home on Saturday, October 22nd ,2022, at 1:22 pm, to begin his eternal life with Jesus Christ, his Lord & Savior. He was born on Tuesday, June 25th, 1940, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Lee & Evelyn Dodson.
Bobby left Arkansas for Dallas on his own at the age of 13 to search for a life different from what he had at that time. With only a 5th grade education he worked various odd jobs until he moved to New Orleans, LA, and later, New York City. He ultimately returned to Dallas to carve out the rest of his life. He was a founding member of Presidents First Lady Health Club's and was instrumental in their success in Dallas and around the country before buying and running a Fina Service Station with some of his brothers. After that venture he settled into an over four decade career as a chemical specialist in the healthcare and laundry industry. He was well respected and admired amongst his peers and he was awarded the industry's highest honor in December of 2013.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Lee Dodson, mother, Joyce Evelyn Gibson-Dodson, three brothers, Charles Earl; Jackie Ray, and Thomas Marion, two sisters, Mary Ruth Dodson-Lively and Ruby Faye Dodson -Watts, as well as a chosen brother Billy Dallas Husky.
Bobby liked to laugh and have fun, his good natured personality and playful spirit endeared him to everyone he met. He delighted in teasing and playing practical jokes on family members, friends and associates. He could really make you laugh too, but especially if he got tickled while trying to tell one of his own jokes and he couldn't stop laughing long enough in order to finish telling the joke.
He made an effort to respect everyone and treat each person as an equal; He believed that was what God expected of us! He also thought we were supposed to leave the world a better place than it was when we were born into it, he certainly achieved that. He appreciated beautiful things, but above all else he cherished love! He had a passion for nature, in its many disguises, and he adored animals & birds, sunrises and sunsets, flora & fauna, & sweets.
Bobby is survived by his partner / husband of almost 47 years, Jimmy Morrow, one brother Jerry Don,one sister Bettie Jane, a brother-in-law, Jim Watts,"chosen family" members,Fredrick John Stucke, Dr. Ruth Durkee, and Kelli Calvert. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews & dear friends.
He is dearly loved & Deeply mourned
