Bobby Wayne LaBounty's Obituary
Bobby Wayne LaBounty, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 2, 2024, in Plano, TX. Bob was born on September 6, 1937, in Lampasas, Texas, to George and Wanda LaBounty. Bob graduated from McCallum High School in Austin (TX) and attended The University of Texas (Class 1962), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Bob married Melinda in June of 1962, had four children, and later divorced. In December 1970, Bob married Martha Avery, and together, they raised their blended family of seven in Richardson.
Bob and Martha owned an accounting, tax, and travel business, Bounty Travel. Bob served his community, helping with a local Civil Air Patrol division and being a volunteer with the Richardson Police Department. He served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They were among the original members of Fellowship Bible Church North (later Chase Oaks) in Plano, Texas, where they served in the Divorce Care ministry and were Mini-Church leaders. He served his family, encouraging them as they participated in school and community organizations. As grandchildren came along, “Mimi and Bop Bop” became regular “cheerleaders” at the grandchildren’s activities. Bob was a devoted Texas Longhorn football fan and went on skiing and travel trips. Recently, Bob found love again and was married to Cathy on September 29th.
Bob is survived by his wife, Catherine Frances Atkins LaBounty; his children Charles LaBounty (wife Nancy), Michael LaBounty (wife Leslie), Virginia Nosky (husband Ren), Wanda Means; his stepchildren Julie Thomas (husband Marcus), Don Blasingame (wife Heidi), and David Blasingame (wife Becky); his grandchildren Matt (wife Haley) & Brian Kelley, Andrew & Collin LaBounty, Brittney Hall (husband Nathan), Lauren & Trent Nosky, Richard, Lizzie, Robert & Emma Means, Robin Saroni (husband Luke), Sara Thomas, Libby Shewski (husband Trevor), John, Will (wife Kyla), Kate & Luke Blasingame, Jake Blasingame (wife Bekha), Meg & Abby Blasingame; his great-grandchildren Kai Kelley, Layton, Larkin and Landon Hall, Hannah Blasingame, and Liam Shewski; his siblings Connie Lowry (husband Ron), George LaBounty (wife Pamela) and James LaBounty (wife Angela); his sister-in-law Mary Dixon (husband Hubert), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Wanda Maxwell and George LaBounty; his wife of 51 years, Martha LaBounty; his brother-in-law, Ed Avery; his sisters-in-law, Deborah Avery, Peggy, and Patty LaBounty; and his grandson, Bryan Thomas.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 6th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 7th at 12 p.m. at Woodcreek Church, 3400 East Renner Road, Richardson, TX 75082. Flowers may be delivered to Restland, or in lieu of flowers; please make memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
