I remember Gene very fondly. He was the one who held me up high to help me make my very first basket on a new basketball goal he had just installed in his backyard. He fixed the spokes on the wheel of my sister's bike so we could all get back to the business of riding up and down the sidewalk. I remember the smile on his face the first time he came home in his new Datsun sports car. I remember the Model T that he built. I remember the day he decided to put a window in the wall between the living room and tv room on La Verdura Drive. He took me on my very first motorcycle ride. We moved away, and sadly lost touch with the Olsons over the years, but I will always remember Mr. Olson and his cheerful smile and willingness to help in all things. My sincerest condolences go out to Jane, Brian, and Stacie, and their families. May God's love, His peace, and His comfort, shine upon you and fill your hearts during this time of grief and sadness.
Sorry to hear of Gene's passing. Gene did a lot of work in our home in the 80's and he was the only contractor my husband, Bob, trusted. He was so skilled. I cut out a picture of a fireplace mantle I saw in a magazine (New England style) and he copied it to a T, and then he said he liked it so much he was going to do the same in his home. I am so happy to hear that he got his dream for retirement with his home in East Texas. he always wanted to move to Arkansas, but I think he found his happiness closer to home. My condolences to all the family. He was a man to be proud of. Phyllis Holton
