Bonnie Jean McIver's Obituary
Bonnie Jean Cobb McIver was born August 24, 1932 in Chattanooga, TN to James and Estella Cobb. She was the only child born to this union. Bonnie left us April 5, 2017 at her home in Frisco, TX. Bonnie graduated from Howard High School in 1949. She went on to attend Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in May 1953. She later pursued and received her Master’s degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Bonnie was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. After finishing college, Bonnie was a devoted school teacher in Atlanta for more than 30 years where she taught reading, music education and later, special needs students. After retiring as a school teacher, she relocated to Dallas to be closer to her son, Billy, and began working with MBNA. This career lasted for eight years. Bonnie was a member at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration when she moved to Dallas. Recently, she became a member at One Community Church in Plano, TX. She enjoyed attending services and delighted in the music, especially the choir songs where you might see her hand lifted. Her son William, affectionately known as Billy, was the light of Bonnie’s life, and she enjoyed spending time with him before his death in 2014. They spent weekly time enjoying the best new releases and reading the newspaper together. Bonnie loved playing the piano, traveling, putting together puzzles, swimming and water aerobics. She also loved good food and was fond of a good dessert. On April 5, 2017, following a recent hospitalization, Bonnie transitioned to her heavenly home. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Estella, as well as her only son William C. Green. She leaves to cherish her memory cousins, close family friends, her church family and her caretakers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
