Bonnie Lynn Rice's Obituary
Known as Bonnie Lynn to family and childhood friends and Granny to many others, Lynn passed away peacefully on November 29, 2008 in Austin, Texas. Born May 6, 1932 in Dallas, she was preceded in death by her parents P. G. and Bonnie Harris and her son-in-law James Sledd, Jr. Bonnie Lynn graduated from Richardson High with the class of 1949 and was a member of Chapter 921 of the Order of the Eastern Star. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from North Texas State University in 1954, she devoted her life to providing a home for her three daughters. She and her friend Kenneth Schwab co-owned Weslayan Medical Laboratories. Later Lynn moved from Houston to Austin to focus on being the greatest Granny ever. Lynn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Melissa Sledd of Austin, Leslie & Dennis Daniel of Austin, and Lauren & David Vicars of Plano, ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, her brother Glenn Richard and sister Mary Myers, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas.
