Bonnie Zoe Yates' Obituary
YATES, BONNIE ZOE (MCLEROY) Peacefully passed away in her home January 7, 2011 at the age of 100. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00. Bonnie was born in Hereford, TX, March 15, 1910 to Gracie and Smith McLeRoy. The family later moved to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from Englewood High School. There she met the love of her life, Edgar Bradley Yates. They had one child, Bonnie Jean Yates Stoner. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Mildred. Bonnie loved sewing, reading, watching sports, especially basketball, and her bird, Larry Bird, of course. She greatly loved children. She is survived by her daughter, her grandson, Scott Stoner, his wife, Nora, and their daughters and her grandson Todd Stoner and his wife, Tracey and children. She was also “Grandma” to many others. She will be so greatly missed by those who love her. In lieu of flowers, donations to these organizations would be appreciated by her family, The Heifer Project, Dallas Children’s Theater or East Dallas Christian Church.
