Bou Hong Lay's Obituary
Bou Hong Lay passed away peacefully at the age of 68 February 21st, 2016 at 2:50 a.m. in Carrollton, TX after battling Parkinson’s Disease with strength and grace. He was born on March 21, 1948 in Cambodia to Eng Hour Khatna and Lay Srun. In Cambodia, he attended Preah Prasop Primary School, Khmero-English High School and Graduated in the Advanced Phase with an ACGE Degree in 1970. From there, Bou was incorporated into the Cambodian Army as a Military Police Officer on May 16, 1970. He was promoted several times and was nominated to 1st Lieutenant on Jan 1, 1973. During the Cambodian Genocide, Bou escaped and came to the U.S on June 26, 1979. He became a leader in the Cambodian community and helped many families begin a new life in the U.S. Bou was loved and respected by many. He is survived by his wife, Phan Lay, his son, Lydar Lay, daughter, Lene Lay Temperton, mother Eng Hour Khatna, sisters, Hong Eang Lay, Sau Hong Lay, Hong Keang Lay, Hong Eng Lay, Hong Leigh Heng, Hong Ky Ly, and brother, Bou Chieng Lay. We will miss him dearly. His wake will be held on Friday, February 26th from 6-9 p.m and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 2:30 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13305 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
