Bret Anthony Jones' Obituary
Bret Anthony Jones, 45, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on February 9, 2024.
Bret was born on April 6, 1978 in Mesquite, Texas to parents Susan Pool and Ross Smith. He
grew up in Mesquite, and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1996. In his younger days,
Bret was an avid athlete and baseball player, and also loved hunting and fishing.
On June 5, 1999, Bret married the love of his life, Andrea Lubbeck. They made their home in
Mesquite, Texas where they raised their two incredible children, Mikayla Cheyenne and Bret
Anthony. As a family they enjoyed taking weekend camping trips, traveling for baseball
tournaments, and fishing at Shadponk Ranch.
Bret was the current owner of TEI Insurance Agency, Inc. in Mesquite, Texas at the time of his
passing. Prior to that, Bret worked at Jordan Restoration as a project manager and insurance
claims appraiser. Before that, he spent many years working for Diamond Door in Mesquite,
Texas.
Bret was a true sportsman at heart and loved hunting and fishing. He took annual trips with his
hunting buddies to Colorado to hunt elk and mule deer. He also hunted nilgai at the King Ranch
and went on many dove hunts in west and south Texas. He loved deer hunting and he hunted
with his family and buddies at their deer leases in Texas. He was a skilled fisherman, whether it
was bass fishing at the family lake or trout fishing at the coast. Bret was a member of the Terrell
Rifle & Pistol Club, and won several marksmanship awards at their shooting events.
Bret and Andrea enjoyed many fun times together. One of their favorite vacation spots was the
family condo in Saint Thomas. They also enjoyed weekend getaways to the casinos in
Louisiana and Oklahoma. Bret and Andrea were blessed with a large loving family and many
close friends they enjoyed spending time with.
Bret is survived by his wife Andrea Jones; daughter Mikayla Adkins and husband Alex; son Bret
Jones II; mother Susan Rene’ Pool and husband Mike; father Ross Anthony Smith and wife
Karen; father John Mitchell Kirby and wife Tami; brother Nick Kirby and wife Patty; brother Chad
Smith and wife Melanie; brother Corey Smith and wife Destiny; brother Michael Hiser and fiancé
Whitney; brother Andrew Coberly; sister Chasity Kirby; sister Renae Stolly and husband Jason;
sister Dacey Gonzalez; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other
family members and friends.
A celebration of Bret’s life will be held on Sunday, February 25th 5-8PM at Hidden Creek in
Heath, Texas. All are welcome.
