Mr Brian Douglas Lafving's Obituary
Went from this life on February 7, 2008 at the age of 54. He was surrounded by his family as a long battle with pneumonia came to a peaceful end. Although he was born in Michigan City, IN, in 1953, his family moved to El Paso the next year. Brian graduated from Coronado High School, El Paso, TX and entered SMU, Dallas, TX in the fall of 1971. He graduated in three years with two degrees; BA magna cum laude in Political Science; and BFA cum laude in Political Communications. He enrolled in SMU’s Law School in the fall of 1974 and graduated in May of 1977: Juris Doctor (J.D.) cum laude, Order of the Coif, Southwestern Law Journal. A member of Highland Park United Methodist Church from his days at SMU, he was published and gave presentations at legal seminars. Having recently established his own law office, Brian will be greatly missed by family, friends, and clients. He is preceded in death by daughter, Brenna Dawn Lafving and father Allen Herschel Lafving. Brian is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Bridgette, Brandon and Brittany; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Mara Branch, and Alex Briggs; mother, Barbara; and brother, Brett. Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, in Cox’s Chapel.
