Brice W. Quarles' Obituary
QUARLES, BRICE WINNELL (PINKY), Born January 16, 1923, in Putnam County, Tennessee to Stephen Brice and Lottie Phillips Quarles. He passed away February 6, 2008 at Christian Care Center, Mesquite, Texas. He graduated from DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN, attended Rice University, and graduated from University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. He then went on to receive his MA degree from Vanderbilt University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946, and attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta social fraternity and had life memberships in the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, the High School Coaches Association, Phi Delta Kappa, American Legion, and Sons of the Confederacy. He spent 42 years with Dallas Independent School District as teacher, athletic coach, principal, and administrator. He is survived by his wife, Camille; his son, Brandon Davis and daughter-in-law Deborah; granddaughter Ashtyn Lee and grandson Corban Davis. He is also survived by a sister, Maruth Sandusky and her family, and a brother Steve and his family. Service will be at 1PM Saturday February 9, 2008 at Restland Memorial Chapel; burial to follow in Restland Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers: ‘The Dinosaurs’. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skillman Church of Christ Prison Ministry or charity of your choice.
