Bruce Hodge Hendley's Obituary
A beloved husband, son, brother, and friend to all, Bruce Hodge Hendley passed away March 14, 2020 at the age of 68. Born in Gladewater, Texas on August 1, 1951, Bruce was a musician like his father, playing the drums. His love for life and his family – including his mother Maxine, sisters, June, Gloria, and Karen, and brother, Billy -- was only matched by his passion for Texas western swing. After marrying Pat Braddy in 2008, he and his new bride settled into a picturesque life along the banks of Lake Fork in Emory, Texas. There, Bruce continued his successful paint contracting business and doted on his “babies,” Sara (Pug), Killer (Boston Terrier), Barney, and Casper (both American Eskimo). Bruce was loved by all, never meeting a stranger. His heart and giving nature were as big as the state of Texas.
Bruce is survived by Maxine Kennedy, his mother; Pat Hendley, his wife; June Saxon, his sister, and her husband, Cecil; Gloria Jordan, his sister, and her husband, Tracy; Karen Tingsley, his sister, and her husband, William; Billy Hendley, his brother; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of which adored Bruce.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Humane Society.
