Bruce Stanley Jamieson's Obituary
Bruce Stanley Jamieson passed away peacefully at his home in Plano on January 2, 2020. He was born in Dallas on November 15, 1925 to Primrose Stanley Jamieson and Hugh V. Jamieson. Bruce graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and studied engineering at the University of Texas until called to active duty in 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. In 1947 he married the love of his life, Frances Culwell Jamieson and they were married for 68 years until her death in 2015. After WWII he returned to Dallas to join his brother and father in the family business. He was president of Jamieson Film Company, producing many industrial films and television commercials, as well as running a motion picture film processing laboratory. Jamieson Film's laboratory was called upon by the Secret Service in 1963 to process the original Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination. Bruce sold the business in 1968. Later he served as consultant to Trammel Crow in the development of the Studios at Las Colinas. Additionally, Bruce served on the Board of Directors of Supron Energy Corporation. Growing up in Lakewood near White Rock Lake, sailboat racing was his earliest passion. One of his proudest achievements was winning the Valspar Cup for the National Sailing Competition in Detroit in 1942 at the age of 16. His early retirement years were spent playing golf, travelling internationally, and collecting art. He was at one time a member of the Dallas Sailing Club, Lakewood Country Club, and was a founding member of the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Frances, and his brother, Hugh V. Jamieson, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Williamson and her husband Don; granddaughters Katie Williamson, and Lisa Williamson Crane and her husband Robert; and great-grandsons William Robert Crane and Connor Jamieson Crane. A quiet, gentle and generous man, Bruce was respected and liked by everyone he knew. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Village at Mapleshade Assisted Living for their loving care and concern. A private service will be held at Restland.
