Bruce Wayne Landes' Obituary
Dr. Bruce Landes, 59, of Dallas passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, surrounded by those who loved him at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He will be remembered and treasured as a loving husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague. He was very generous, sharp-witted and with his huge heart, was always there for others. He enjoyed teaching and discussing the topics he was passionate about, including gardening and his new found hobby of making and mastering sourdough bread. Bruce was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Brownell and Edna (Riley) Landes. He was a graduate of The University of Missouri, Columbia receiving his undergraduate degree is Biology and Doctor of Medicine in 1980. Bruce completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in 1983. Upon completing his residency, Bruce was in private practice in the Dallas area. Bruce also had a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Finance from the SMU Cox School of Business in 1998, and become an administrative physician in September 2000 as President and CEO of Southwest Physician Associates of Dallas, serving until his death. Bruce is preceded in death by his brother, Brion Landes. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; parents, Edna and Brownell Landes; sisters, Sharon Veskerna and Diane Adam; and very special sister-in-law, Debbie Landes all of Kansas City. Bruce is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bruce had a very special place in his heart for sister-in-law Julie Babin as well as all of his wife’s family. Some very special friends of Bruce’s include, Bob Skelton, Amy Cooney, Karen Kreager, and Nelda Wilkinson. Thank you to all the dedicated physicians and nurses who worked so tirelessly, and the Chaplains for their guidance. A very special thank you to nurse Amanda (Mandy) in the Truett Hospital for all her support. A celebration of Bruce’s life will be planned at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
