Bruce Alton Meador's Obituary
Bruce Alton Meador was born on November 1, 1933 in Ft. Worth Texas. He went to be with our Lord on September 26, 2016 at Signature Pointe on the Lake in Richardson, Texas. Mr. Meador was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Janice Horton Meador. Also preceding him in death was his older son, Scott Alton Meador, who succumbed to ALS in 2011. Bruce is survived by his second son, Gregory Brant Meador MD and wife, Gale A. Meador. He is also survived by Bevery Meador, Scott’s wife and his six grandchildren, Spencer Meador, Colin Meador, Griffin Meador, Kristin Meador, Trevor Meador, and Isabella Meador. On November 4, 2016 at 12:30 pm, a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life in the Wildwood Chapel at the Restland Cemetery at 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. Immediately following, there will be a small graveside service, where his ashes will be interred. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association. Bruce Meador graduated from North Texas State University in 1956. Immediately upon graduation he started working for General Electric. He loved his work and remained with this same company for 37 years. He retired from GE in 2002. Bruce was a devoted family man and loving father and grandfather. He was also a loyal friend who over the years maintained frequent contact with several people with whom he attended elementary school or worked with decades ago at GE. Mr. Meador also gave frequently and generously to many charitable organizations and was a regular member of The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Richardson. Scores of people, whose lives he touched in a positive way, will sorely miss him. He was guided by a strong moral compass which compelled him to be strong and strive do the right thing. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
