A SHOOTING STAR ACROSS THE GALAXY IS GONE
Bryan Allen McCalister ,35 years old , of Dallas,Texas passed unexpectedly Saturday August 7,
2021. Bryan was the son of Allen and Cal McCalister and brother to Brandon McCalister. He
was born in Gainesville, Florida and resided in Connecticut before moving to Plano, Texas with
his family.
Bryan was educated in the Plano School System graduating in 2004 . He was a star hockey
player most of his youth and during high school playing as a center and right wing. He
graduated from Texas Technical University in Lubbock, Texas receiving Bachelor degrees in
both Finance and Business Administration. He excelled academically, earning honors such as
the National Dean’s List, and Who’s Who among students. He also belonged to several
Industry-related organizations such as , the Tech Finance Association, the Tech Marketing
Association and the National Society of Black Engineers. Being a member of the Theta Xi
Fraternity influenced his desire to serve others. Following in the footsteps of his parents, Bryan
understood the need to give back to the community. He spent many hours volunteering for
Habitat for Humanity International and the North Texas Food Bank.
Being a self-starter , Bryan’s strong leadership skills parlayed his academic degrees into fast
tracking a career in the Insurance Industry. He started his career as an Underwriter with The
Hartford Financial Services, before becoming a Property and Casualty Broker creating
successful initiatives to increase productivity. His tenacious work ethic and intellectual acuity
contributed to his meteoric rise in the field. Bryan was considered a “Rising Star” among his
professional colleagues.
His family and friends will remember his keen sense of humor, coupled with his dynamic smile
and sparkling eyes. He was deeply devoted to his family and being the oldest child, his younger
brother, Brandon, was always a priority in his life. Bryan enjoyed sports and was a health
enthusiast and fitness buff. With a goal always before him, he eagerly met and surpassed his
own expectations in any area that he pursued. He never stopped dreaming and planning his
future- disciplined, principled, purposeful.
Bryan was deeply spiritual. His favorite scripture was Roman 8:37-38, “In all things we are more
than conquerors...neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to
separate us from the love of God “. He often brought comfort and peace to his friends by
sharing from his time spent in meditation.
Personal privacy was a hallmark of his character. Few people knew that he recently celebrated
the one year anniversity with Triniti Slater , the love of his life! Bryan and Triniti had designed
her engagement ring-he was waiting for that special moment to ask” the big question”. Triniti
has been a solid rock of support for his family as she deals with her own loss. Bryan had found
the “daughter” for his parents and the sister for Brandon.
Bryan would want all of us who are mourning his passing to remember the good times, the
special times, the times that each of us cherish in our hearts. A young man of integrity,
gentleness, and loving kindness-Bryan Allen McCalister-Rest In Peace.
Bryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Ruby McCalister, as
well as his maternal grandparents, Ernest Sneed and Josie Mosley Sneed. He leaves a vast
host of family, extended family, friends and colleagues to celebrate his life.
