Bryan Allen Wheeler's Obituary
Bryan Allen Wheeler, beloved husband, father, and friend
Bryan Allen Wheeler lived in Dallas and Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Bryan was born on April 29, 1957, to Bill and Marilynn Wheeler in Midland, Texas. Bryan’s other birthday was in April 2011, when he received a life-giving transplant. On May 23, 2024, Bryan peacefully passed surrounded by love, light, and his family.
Bryan married Katie Kidd on the last day of June 1994, but the two met in the summer of 1984, and were inseparable from the beginning. Others might give a precise date for an anniversary, but neither liked to keep up with that, and time is not linear for Bryan. Presents were not a thing for Bryan and Katie, but making memories was. And boy, did Bryan and Katie make memories. Many are shared by you!
While there are a lot of important milestones in Bryan’s life, perhaps the best was in December 2018, when Bryan first found out about his daughter, Briana. Bri has been a gift and joy for Bryan and Katie ever since. The bonus is daughter-in-law Dayna and grandson Jordan. Bryan and Bri are alike in every way imaginable. Bryan was so thankful for Bri’s mom, Debbie, and dad, Lyle, who continue to love and support Bri.
Bryan was a Renaissance man. A man of art, student of science and philosophy, Reiki master, ordained minister, wheeler dealer, gear head, collector, intellect, and a believer in humanity. Bryan was a man of grace.
Bryan was a gifted artist and jewelry designer. Bryan had a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southwest Texas State University and was self-educated on so many topics of interest to him. From the time he was a child, Bryan worked in every job conceivable from selling Christmas cards, teaching art, jewelry design, sales, truck driving, management, chemicals, advertising, public relations, free-lance artist, market research, construction, consultant, conversationalist, private investigator, and comedian, to name a few.
Bryan’s priorities included his friends, and he never met a stranger. As his daughter-in-law best said, “With Bryan, you’ve got a friend!”
Bryan fiercely loved his wife and family.
Bryan is survived by wife, Katie; daughter, Briana; daughter-in-law, Dayna; grandson, Jordan; mother, Marilynn Wheeler; brother, Billy Wheeler; and sister Mary Lynn Neely. And of course, in-laws Donna Wheeler, Jimmy Neely, and Justin Caylor; nephews Cory Wheeler, Chad Wheeler, Dylan Caylor, and Logan Caylor; a great nephew; and lots of nieces. And, a puppy, Tot, and all of Katie’s people. Bryan was preceded in death by his father, “Bill” William Allen Wheeler, grandparents, and lots of dogs, cats, and dear friends.
Bryan’s philosophy included “Live everyday like it is your last. Love to your limit. Drive it like you stole it. Never talk about politics, religion, or money, and keep your friendships.”
Instead of flowers, please donate time or give to your favorite charity. Some of Bryan’s favorites were CASA, Autism Speaks, and Donate Life.
A celebration for Bryan Allen Wheeler will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 8, 2024, at 1900 Pacific Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75201.
