Buckney Wayne Terrell's Obituary
Buckney Wayne Terrell was born on November 5, 1936 in Collin County, McKinney, Texas. He is the son of the late Ambros “AB” Terrell and Ceola Owens-Terrell. Buckney accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior early in life. He prayed daily and had a personal relationship with God. Buckney was raised and educated in the Dallas area. He graduated from Addison Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. He also attended Richland Community College, part of Dallas County Community College District. Buckney, enlisted in the U.S. Army and received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged. Buckney retired after a long career with Rockwell International/Alcatel for 25 years as well as Richardson Independent School District (RISD) for 26 years. Buckney Wayne Terrell met Ruby Jean Samuel during their teenage years. They later married and had 3 children. Prior to dating his wife he was blessed with a daughter. Buckney, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a great story teller (he loved to talk about his adventures in the military), he loved to hang out and talk to his grand-daughters. He would also visit them on their college campuses. He believed in education and always talked about the importance of education. He loved family get togethers, doting on his wife and making sure his daughters knew he was their biggest supporter. Buck loved nature and you would often find him working in his yard, planting trees in his sisters or his daughter’s yards. He loved to dress up and go to different social events. He loved being with family, being the center of attention as well as watching sports and/or discussing politics. He was smart and very thoughtful. He had a memory like none other. He also loved the Booker T Washington Alumni in which he was the historian. Buckney is preceded in death by his father, AB Terrell, mother; Ceola Terrell, his brothers, Owens Terrell, Eddie Terrell, Elmo Terrell, Bobby L. Terrell, Alexander Terrell and his sisters Mary Francis Terrell, and Betty Terrell-Hickson. He leaves to cherish his memory and his love: His wife, Ruby Jean Terrell, His daughters Karen R. Samuel, Verbena Denise Anderson-Johnson, Lisa Renee Terrell-Barrett & Cherlyn D. Terrell, His grand-daughters, Brieonna Renee Barrett and Myah Renee Barrett, His sisters, Lurlene D. Terrell, Dorothy J. Terrell-Fields (Janes), and Barbara J. Terrell-Hillery (James), and a host of nieces and nephews.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mr. Terrell will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery.
