Buford Nolen Powell's Obituary
Buford Powell, 88, of Richardson, Texas went home to Heaven on November 26, 2014. Beloved by family and friends, Buford once said he never met a stranger, just new friends to get to know. He was a loving Christian husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His passions were his faith, family, golf, and ice cream. He is survived by his wife, Ava, his daughter, Jan; his three grandchildren, Gena, Ethan, and Bethany; five great grandchildren, his sisters Tricky Lang, Kita Haynie, and Delline Janson as well as his brother Ravell Powell; three step-daughters, Becky Lawrence, Carol Carruthers, and Maribeth Seale; seven step-grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren. Buford was born on March 17, 1926 in Oklahoma and proudly served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force during World War II. After the war, Buford married Mary Davis and moved to Austin, Texas where he obtained a pharmacy degree from the University of Texas. He then went to work for the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company until his retirement in 1989. Buford was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary and son, Nolan. A memorial service will be held at Heights Baptist Church Richardson on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Heights Baptist Church, 201 W. Renner Road, Richardson, Texas 75080 in his name at: www.theheights.org
