Burl Edward Davidson's Obituary
November 6, 1928 – May 27, 2017 Burl Edward Davidson of Dallas died peacefully on May 27, 2017, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Arthur Davidson, his sister, Jean Reidel, and a nephew, Scott Taylor. Burl was born in Winslow, Arkansas, and grew up in Fayetteville, becoming a fierce and lifelong Razorback fan. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a loyal member of Sigma Nu fraternity, serving as chapter president, and was in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s in personnel management, finishing in 1951. Following graduation, he received a commission in the U.S. Air Force and served 4 years, attaining the rank of Captain. He also served in the Air Force Reserves. In 1955, Burl joined AT&T in Dallas. He dedicated the next 30 years to the company, serving in increasingly important marketing and management positions in both Dallas and St. Louis, Missouri. Burl was an active participant in the Kiwanis International service organization for many years. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Burl is survived by his former wife and friend Jerry Davidson; son Steve Davidson and wife Julie; daughter Laura Bush and husband James; grandchildren Stephen Bush and wife Jennifer; Sarah King and husband Greg; Chris Bush and wife Kristin; Sam Davidson and wife Alexis; three great-grandchildren and a fourth great-grandchild due in July; as well as four nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of both Avalon and Total Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care. Visitation 10:30 am – 11:00 am prior to the Graveside services at 11:00 am, Thursday at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. Dress is casual and bright. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
