Burton Edward Hazard's Obituary
Burton (Burt) Edward Hazard III, 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away May 6, 2017, after a courageous battle ultimately lost to cancer. He was born October 27, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Burton Edward Hazard Jr. and Irene Rogers Hazard. He is also preceded in death by his sister Sally Dawn Essary and her husband Bill. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara Woolley Hazard, daughters Corliss Hazard and Alysia Renn, son in law Chris Renn, grandchildren Lanier Mize, Courtney Mize, Christopher Hazard Rodriguez, Michelle Hazard Rodriguez, Emily Renn Strange and husband Brent, and Bailey Renn. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Susanne Woolley Barton, brothers-in-law Larry Conway Barton and William Corliss Woolley, nieces and nephews Kyle Brown and wife Lupe, Kim Nordgren and husband Glenn, Chad Essary and wife Kelly, Amy Hilliard and husband Nathan, Julie Surley and husband Nathan, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Burt is a 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. He met his wife Barbara at the University of Texas at Austin, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago. His 40-year career with International Harvester | JI Case Company took his family to live all over the country- Dallas, Chicago, Nashville GA, Atlanta, Greer SC, Prattville AL, Lubbock TX and finally back to his birthplace, Oklahoma City. He was a fun loving man who never met a stranger. He will be lovingly remembered for his deep devotion to family and friends, overwhelming pride in his children and grandchildren, and dedication to his faith. Burt served as Episcopal lay minister at Church of the Resurrection and enjoyed his retirement years as a member of the Oklahoma Mustang Club. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside services to honor his life will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
