Byron Wortham's Obituary
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2014 after many years of suffering with kidney disease and other illnesses. He was born September 22, 1930 in Paris, Texas to the late George and Mary Carlton Wortham. He was preceded in death by brothers Charles Aubrey and Carlton Wortham. He attended schools in Paris, Texas and after graduation from Paris Jr. College entered Southern Methodist University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He was employed by Otis Engineering and Halliburton and later acquired Astro Advertising Company. He had many good memories of Astro and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and helping people with their specialty advertising needs for over 35 years. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Dallas where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School and Training Union. He then moved to First Baptist Church Richardson and especially enjoyed working with the parking lot committee as a greeter. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Wanda Wortham; daughters Beth Wallace and husband, Terry of Cypress, TX, Cynthia Spear and husband, Chris of McKinney; grandsons Alex Spear, Connor Wallace and Preston Wallace; nephews Dick Wortham and wife Susan, Jim Wortham and wife Cissy; sister-in-law Nita Alexander; niece Gloria Wickersham and many dear friends. Byron enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to going to Branson, MO with dear friends. With gratitude we extend our heartfelt thanks to our care givers for their compassionate care of Byron. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Richardson.
