C. Charlene Bailey's Obituary
Charlene Bailey passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, four days after her 95 birthday, at Texoma Medical Center. Charlene was born on June 22, 1929, in Colorado City, Texas to Charles and Bertha Beckham Jones. She was the middle of three children and the only daughter. Charlene married Willie M. Bailey on May 5, 1951, and they were happily married for forty nine years until his death in December of 2000.
Charlene graduated from North Dallas High School and went on to work for the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Dallas and, later, worked for companies in Dallas and DeSoto as a bookkeeper.
In 1968 Charlene and Willie moved to Sherman, Texas, where she worked for Brosco, Inc. as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
Charlene and Willie were the parents of two daughters, Terrie and Tracie. She was a loving and involved mother which was her proudest achievement. She was a strong woman and had a quick wit, with a sarcastic flavor. She took loving care of her mother during illnesses and also her husband during his long battle with Alzheimer's. She enjoyed crafts such as needlepoint, sewing and painting ceramics. She made stuffed teddy bears for the grandchildren and great grandchildren when each was born. However, her favorite activity was shopping!
Charlene is survived by her daughters, Terrie Stevens and husband Randy of Sherman and Tracie Bailey and wife Beth of Garland. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Shea Santone and husband Daniel of Trophy Club, Seth Stevens and wife Holly of Houston and Joseph Shockley and fiancée Lindsey of Sachse; four great grandchildren, Grace Santone, Ella Santone, Emerson Stevens and Everett Stevens, along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceasing Charlene were her parents, husband Willie M. Bailey and brothers Wayne Jones and Wendell Jones.
A family graveside service will be held Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 1:00PM at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
