Mr C. L. Freeman Jr.'s Obituary
C. L. Freeman, Jr., of Rockwall, Texas passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021. He was born in Commerce, Texas on September 10, 1926 to Claude L. and Georgia Leith Pattillo Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ila Rae Freeman Price and Mary Frances Freeman Price. He is survived by his nephews Dr. Alan Price of Oxnard, CA, Marty Price of Dallas, TX, Mike Price of Yorba Linda, CA and nieces Michelle Price Heineman of Arlington, TX, Cheryl Price Swedberg of Anthem, AZ, Sharon Price Brunner of Canton, TX and Patti Price of Rockwall, TX as well as many great nephews and nieces. C.L. grew up in Commerce, Texas and graduated from Commerce High School. In December 1945 he enlisted in the Army Air Force attaining the rank of Corporal. He received basic training at Langley Field in Virginia and attended the Airplane and Mechanics School in Amarillo, Texas. Following his years of service, which included a period of time in Germany, where he attended the Nuremburg Trials, C.L. was honorably discharged in December 1949. He received an Army of Occupation Medal and a World War II Victory Medal as well as a letter from President Harry S. Truman congratulating him on his service. C.L. earned a Master of Education degree in August 1954 from East Texas State Teachers College, now known as Texas A & M University, Commerce. He taught high school and then began a long career with the postal service until he retired. After his retirement, C.L. became active in Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, Texas where enjoyed Tuesday morning prayer breakfasts, was a greeter at Sunday services, and set up and collected the hymnals after the services, and enjoyed the potluck dinners after services. One of his favorite activities was learning ballroom dancing and going to the dances. He said he would rescue the little old ladies who had no partners and ask them to dance. He was skilled as a handyman of all sorts, doing his own repairs and maintenance of the home and cars. C.L. lived an independent and simpler life. He was not frivolous nor did he need luxury. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who made a difference in the world. Burial services are to be held at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas Texas.
