Callie was the best nurse in the world. She was always caring for others. She will be greatly missed because you could always go and ask her any health question and she would have the right answer. When we went to the conferences for the church one year I got sick in New Orleans and had to go to the emergency room. Callie was right there with me telling them just what I needed. When my mother was sick Callie would stop by after church on Sundays and check on her. My family and I will never forget CALLIE HARRIS.

One of God's greatest blessings to me has been to know Callie Harris. She was strong, wise, beautiful and caring. She was most good. She gave love and a firm hand to all around her. She had 3 wonderful daughters but many many many children. She was a gift to the medical field and guided patients, students, Nurses, and even Doctors. I always thought Callie if born a generation later could have been a Doctor herself. She always had a sense to know if a patient was really sick or not and she could get away with reprimanding those that really weren't sick and just wanted attention. I met Callie while I was still a resident in training. She taught me about people and about life even then and I was very lucky to "inherit" her to work with me in my practice at Methodist Dallas many years later. She joked that she didn't want to work for women doctors because they were too emotional. I asked her to stay and work with me even though I was a girl and she stayed. I guess in the end that means it was OK that I was a girl. Her mission and ministry was to care for others. She gave love and care from the heart and those of us touched by her felt it. I was amazed by her resilience during her struggle with cancer. I think her physician Dr Bruce Fine is a miracle worker. He fought for her for several years to give her time with her family and loved ones. She endured many surgeries and treatments and until the very end seemed to pick herself up and go on with a smile and a light heart as if she was not phased by any of it. She trusted in God to get her through what must have been some tough times and He did. I asked Callie when I last saw her to hold a house in Heaven near hers for me. I do wish to see her again and hear her laugh and see her smile. I will miss you Callie! -Patricia LaRue, MD

What can one really say about Ms. Callie? Oh boy the number of times I thought the worst of the worst and she would shoot straight from the hip and get me back in line. For years, Callie has been the nurse of North Park. Who didn't have a boo-boo that she didn't come see about or call to check on or bring 'samples' to help in the meanwhile? 2nd pew behind me on the Sundays she and Bro. Osby would come to church. Not only a nurse but a mom to so many. Helping to care for our dad during some of his most pain-filled times. All Mom had to do was call. Ms. Callie would answer, EVERY TIME. I humbly bow Ms. Callie. I humbly bow. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. Well done to the family. Well done! ??
