Calvin Ray Arney's Obituary
Calvin Ray Arney was born in Chicota, Texas on October 22, 1923, to Luther Franklin Arney and Willie Ina Mitchell. Calvin went peacefully on February 27, 2018, to be with His Lord and Savior.Calvin was married to Juanita Holmes on August 17, 1947 until December 3, 1985, when she lost her battle to cancer. They resided in Garland in the home that he renovated and took great pride in. He was a hard working brick mason and served in the Navy during World War II. He was stationed on USS Essex where he worked on the catapults. He was always happy to share stories of those Navy days. They were members of Saturn Road Church of Christ for around 30 years and served faithfully.Calvin married Nell Collins on July of 1986 until she passed peacefully on January of 2009. They moved to Granbury, where they retired and lived on the lake. They were members of Granbury Church of Christ for 20 years. They served faithfully to missions in Mexico where he used his brick masonry talents.He is preceded in death by; his parents; his wife Juanita; his wife Nell; his siblings: Travis, Clomer, Aileen, Bobby and Joe.He will be remembered by his daughter Susan Johnson and her husband John, his daughter Diane Collins and her husband John and his son Michael Arney. Also to keep his memories alive are his 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. Please stop by the reception desk and the funeral home staff will escort you back to state rooms E-F. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on March 3, 2018 at Saturn Road Church of Christ located at 3030 Saturn Road, Garland, Texas 75041. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in the Crestview Section.Arrangements are under the care of Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
