Calvin Cook Jr.'s Obituary
COOK, JR., CALVIN Passed away June, 2nd at the age of 78. He died at Baylor Regional Medical Center of Plano after a long battle with cancer. He was a faithful Christian and devoted family man who loved worshiping at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas with his many friends. Mr. Cook was born September 8, 1933 in Etowah, Arkansas to Gracie Mae and Calvin Cook Sr. and was raised in Bastrop, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956 stationed in England. Calvin married Josephine Dorothy Bates of Lubbock, Texas on September 18, 1954 in Lubbock. They have resided in Chandler, Texas for the last 32 years. Mr. Cook was known as the “RV DOC” as he was the Owner/Operator of Lake Palestine RV World for over 32 years. Calvin loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter/fisherman whose passions included camping, riding his ATV, gardening, and spending all the time he could with his four grandchildren. Mr. Cook was preceded by his mother, Gracie Mae and father, Calvin Sr.; 4 brothers and 1sister. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Cook; Daughter, Debbie Stallings and husband Tracy of Frisco, Texas, and their children Tommy & Tony; Daughter, Dorothy Cook of Princeton, Texas; Son, Randy Cook and wife Suzie of Plano, Texas, and their children Cara and Hollie; and 3 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral Service will be held at Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Texas at 11:00am on Thursday, 6/7. A Burial Service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas at 4:00pm also on Thursday, 6/7.
