Calvin Gates Hoff's Obituary
Cal was born in Plevna, Mont., on Feb. 4, 1927, to Adolph and Betsy Hoff and passed away on January 14, 2016 in Lewisville, Texas. He joined the Navy, serving during World War II (SeeBees) doing construction work. He returned from World War II, and graduated from Lakefield High School in Minnesota. He continued his education at Worthington Jr. College in Minnesota and then continued on to the University of North Dakota, playing football, one of his favorite sports. After college he moved to Texas in 1956; worked for LTV Corp. for 38 years. Cal and Betty retired in 1992. On Jan. 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Nicholson in Durant, Okla., and celebrated their 58-year anniversary. They were blessed with one son, Gary, . Cal loved all sports, but really loved football, especially loved the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed snow skiing with his son, Gary and niece Debbie ,and continued it until age 75 years old. He was “Mr. Handyman” for the neighborhood, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary Hoff; two brothers, Budd Hoff and Don Hoff and two sisters, Pearl Anderson and Betty Jean Starkey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to charity of choice. Memorial Service will be held on 12:30 PM on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
