Calvin Gene James' Obituary
JAMES, CALVIN GENE, whose life blessed so many friends and loved ones, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in Dallas, Texas. Calvin was born September 10, 1937, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, to Wendell and Opal Porter James. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Shirley Cook James; brother, Dr. Melton James and wife, Dr. Cheryl Feigal-James; sister, Sue Howard and husband, Jerry of Mocksville, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Jerry Cook and wife, Carol of Conroe, Texas, and sister-in-law, Vickie Green and husband, Rick of Moore, Oklahoma; Aunts: Anna Lee Motley and husband, Dick and Onita Coffey, Tecumseh, Oklahoma; nephews: Tracey Cook, Marcus Howard, David James and wife, Carrie; David Green and wife, Crystal, and nieces: Leslie Cook and husband, Steven; and Angela Copeland and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces; and many cousins. After 30 years of service Calvin retired as Regional Finance manager from Massey-Ferguson. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the James and Associates Landscape and Lawn Maintenance Service in North Dallas for ten years. Calvin joined Royal Lane Baptist Church, Dallas, in 1967. He sang in the choir, served several times as Chairman of Deacons. Viewing will be at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX, 75243, Saturday, July 16th. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 17th at 3:00 p.m. at Royal Lane Baptist Church, 6707 Royal Lane, Dallas, Texas. Graveside services will be July 18th at 2:00 p.m. in Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music & Worship ministries of Royal Lane Baptist Church.
