Calvin Taylor Reagan's Obituary
REAGAN, CALVIN TAYLOR, born August 28, 1924 in Blanket, Texas, died October 31, 2007. He attended Dallas Technical High School, where he met Ruth Esther Witt, his future wife of 51 years. Like so many of his generation, his life was shaped by the Great Depression and World War II. After surviving the sinking of his troopship, the Leopoldville, in the English Channel on Christmas Eve 1944, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he graduated from Southern Methodist University and worked in the sporting goods business. Later, he owned his own bookstore in Irving. This allowed him to enjoy his love of good books and good conversation. He was a founding member of the Beltline Road Church of Christ. He is survived by one sister, Naomi Fonville of Smiths Station, AL; three sons, Eugene Reagan of Dallas, Duane Reagan of Flower Mound, and Chris Reagan, of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Patsy Hendrix of Flower Mound and Nancy Brady of Arlington; eight grandsons; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, November 2, at Beltline Road Church of Christ in Irving at 1:00 PM. There will be a visitation period at the church beginning at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
