CALVIN LEON VESTAL, JR

Calvin Leon Vestal, Jr. (Butch) was born January 16, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Calvin and Louise Vestal. He passed away quietly at Faith Presbyterian Hospice on August 4, 2022 with his loving wife Vicky by his side. Calvin was born in Baylor hospital and grew up in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas. In 1959 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Texas and Florida before being deployed to Viet Nam, 1st Air Commando Unit, and where he was assigned to Ben Hoa Airfield near Saigon. He was always proud and honored to have served his country in the United States Air Force.
After his military service his career led him down many paths which included police work, insurance and product sales, real estate leasing and underwriting. He later followed his passion for slinging the blade that he operated a Bass Fishing Guide Service on Lake Fork for almost a decade.
Yes, the first love of his life, and arguably the last, was indeed bass fishing. He made a name for himself as a Tournament Bass Angler for over 40 years, fishing with Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin and the like. Over the past 18 years you would likely find him and Vicky Sue on Lake Lavon or Lake Ray Hubbard at 1st Light bite, casting alongside him, watching the sunrise. Living and loving the good life. Bass Fishing was indeed Calvin’s passion throughout his life.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin, Sr. and Louise Vestal. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky; two sons, Allen Leon (Taya), and Jason Wade; two bonus kids,, Elliot and Katie. He has three grandsons, Brent and the twins Alex and Austin; The oldest of four, Calvin leaves his brother, Mike Vestal (Rhonda);, and sisters, Sharon Sanders (Robert), and Debbie Reis (Vic); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, colleagues, friends and cohorts. He will be dearly missed.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday August 12, 2022 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park, with Rev. Kimberly Andrews officiating, immediately followed by interment with Military Honors.
