Cam Ann Owen's Obituary
Camillia “Cam” Murray Owen, 83, passed away on June 14, 2022. She was born in a small farmhouse on October 29,1938, in Nevada, Texas to Ella Maxine Sisco Parish. She and her single mother moved to Dallas where she grew up and graduated from North Dallas High School in 1957, and then attended Texas Tech University for two years until her mother became ill and she returned home to care for her. Cam worked for American Airlines as a stewardess until she married Michael James Owen in 1961. They were married for 25 years, had two daughters, and lived in Richardson, Texas. She regularly attended Richardson East Church of Christ, enjoyed bible studies, and teaching Sunday school. She was an extraordinary daughter, mother, Grammy, and friend to so many.
Cam started her own interior design business at the age 41 and continued her career until she was 80 years old. For many years she shared an office with her dear friend, designer Kathie Taub. She was a very talented and gifted interior designer that loved making people’s homes and offices beautiful. Cam was also blessed to have so many wonderful clients who became some of her greatest friends.
Lynne Boylan Dildy and Cam had been best friends since high school and Cam cherished their friendship. Over the years, their respective families did almost everything together. In retirement, they both resided at the Traditions Senior Living where they continued to see each other every day and enjoy each other’s company and support.
Cam took many amazing vacations around the world with her special friends, Ben & Lynne Dildy and Kay Murphy. She also enjoyed vacations in Maui with her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Cam loved dining out, dancing, going to movies, casino trips, playing tennis, planting flowers, playing cards and scrabble, and cheering on her Texas Tech Red Raiders.
She was known and loved for her infectious smile, her hilarious laugh, whistling, class and style, funny words and phrases, true wisdom and great advice, trustworthiness, and being someone whom you could always count on. She consistently demonstrated her support by attending all family events and activities. Her unconditional love will never be forgotten.
Cam spent 13 years with her loving companion, Robert Huggins. They met in high school and became reacquainted later in life while attending different high school reunions and events. They were quite the pair and really enjoyed each other’s company. Robert was a huge part of her family. He passed away in 2020 and is missed dearly.
Cam is preceded in death by her mother, Ella Maxine Sisco Parish and father, Ted Beene. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Melody and Brett Jurick of Allen, daughter and son-in-law Allison and Chuck Migl of Richardson, grandson and wife Brandon and Taylor Jurick, granddaughters Faith Jurick, Mallory Migl & Maddie Migl, former spouse Michael Owen, and many great cousins.
Camillia Owen was a strong Christian example with a servant’s heart to so many. Although she will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, she would want us all to go on bringing joy to others, enjoying life to the fullest, wearing bright colors, and loving one another.
