Candace Joan Donaldson's Obituary
CANDACE JOAN FEW DONALDSON, the only daughter of William H. and Joan Few, was born in Dallas and attended Irving schools, graduating from Nimitz High School in 1984. While in Nimitz, she went directly from physical education to varsity tennis. Also, she could run faster than the guys and throw the shot-put farther. After graduation, she attended UT Arlington and transferred to UNT Denton in 1988, where she received her B. A. Degree in 1992. In 1983, a Christian young man named Paul “Curt” Donaldson moved from Moscow, Tennessee, to attend DeVry Technical Institute in Irving. He united with Memorial Baptist Church and became good friends with Candace. That friendship flourished, and Curt asked her for a date in 1985. This was a perfect match for the preacher’s daughter and the deacon’s son. Their love was celebrated in a beautiful wedding on June 6, 1987, with her father officiating and her father-in-law praying during the nuptials. Although she had a bachelor’s degree in art, she chose to be a full-time mother/homemaker, using her multiple talents to serve her family and others. There was just one way to do everything, right, and that was her way. She was an expert technician and organizer, serving as church custodian, including maintenance and upkeep, until her health declined. Candace loved tools and enjoyed carpentry. She built cabinets and shelves and then painted them beautifully. In fact, she insisted on painting the new storage shed last spring in her frail condition. She also enjoyed cooking; chocolate-chip cookies and meringue banana pudding were her forte. Candace became a Christian at a young age and spent her entire life in service to her Lord and His Church. Candace is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Paul Curtis Donaldson, Jr.; daughter, Ellen Joan Donaldson; son, Andrew Paul Donaldson; parents, William H. and Joan Butler Few; two brothers, Kanah Few and wife, Robbie; and Kelvin Few and wife, Tina; loving mother-in-law, Patricia Donaldson; brother-in-law, David Donaldson and wife, Charlotte; nieces, Sarah Few and Katie Few; nephews, Cagle Few, Keaton Few, John Donaldson, and Steven Donaldson. She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Keaton Cleveland Few and father-in-law, Paul Curtis Donaldson, Sr. The visitation for Candace will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Candace will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Northrich Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
