Mrs. Candice Marie Benoit's Obituary
Candy passed away on October 22, 2024, at her home in Garland, Texas.
Candy was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on July 25, 1947, and went on to become a lifelong educator. Candy attended Louisiana Tech University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Later she obtained a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at East Texas State University – Commerce.
Candy had a passion for working with children, which led to a career in education. She taught in Garland ISD for many years, with 20 years at A.R. Davis Elementary teaching first grade. Candy loved the challenges of teaching and watching her students grow.
Candy met the love of her life, Charles, while attending Louisiana Tech University. She worked in the cafeteria and Charles came through her line and told his friends; I’m going to marry her someday. On August 23, 1969, Candy and Charles were married. This past August they celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary.
Candy has two children, Chris and Cindy. She was always actively involved in her children’s lives and was their biggest supporter and cheerleader in everything they did. Candy was always telling them how proud she was of them and loved them bunches.
Candy’s favorite color was pink. She loved red velvet cake and yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting. Candy enjoyed her coffee and sweet tea. She loved going to the beauty shop with her daughter and getting her hair and nails done. Candy enjoyed playing solitaire, working on crossword puzzles, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints, they were her boys. She was a devout Catholic and a founding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Candy enjoyed the holidays, especially Halloween seeing all of the little kids dressed in their costumes. She loved gardening and taking care of plants. Candy was one of the most caring and loving people and her smile and laugh would light up the room. She embraced everyone she met with loving arms and a loving heart.
Candy is preceded in death by her father, William Pernell Anderson; her mother, Mary Earle (Lawrence) Anderson; her father-in-law, Alvin Ray Benoit; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Marie (Harvey) Benoit, with whom she shared and celebrated a birthday.
Candy is survived by her husband Charles; her son Chris, Chris’s wife Alissa, and her granddaughter Bailey; her daughter Cindy, Cindy’s partner Josh, and her grandson William. Candy is also survived by her brother Michael Anderson, sister-in-law Sharon Anderson, sister Sue Fontenot, sister Terry Hinderberger, brother-in-law Tony Hinderberger, and sister-in-law Alvinette Craiger. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Visitation will be held on October 28, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (CT) at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The Funeral Mass will be held on October 29, 2024, at 10:30 am (CT) at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 600 S. Jupiter Rd, Richardson, TX 75081. A reception will follow the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
