Candice Young Harris' Obituary
Candice (Young) Harris, 70, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, at her home in Dallas, surrounded by family. She was born December 29, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, to Donald and June (Blomesness) Young. She moved with her family to Dallas in the early sixties, and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. She married James Perry Harris in 1965 and had three children. In her late twenties, Candice was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and after a divorce and brief stay in a nursing home, was inspired to write about her experiences regaining independence with chronic illness. She published several books, including poems and a book for children. She is survived by her sister, Donna Young; three children Tracy (Harris) Holbert, Blake Harris, and Kevin Harris, and their spouses; four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. Candice loved people and animals but wasn’t big on flowers. Please consider a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Association Of America, the Scottish Rite hospital, ASPCA or charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
