Carl Douglas Carney's Obituary
Carl Douglas Carney, born April 3, 1933 departed this earth on December 25, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.M. and Thelma Carney; grandparents, Eli Albert and Hattie Belt; aunt Effie Marie Chiles and her husband, Ray, all of Garland, TX. Sister and her husband, Betty and Joe Patton of Wellston, Ohio and their son, Donald Patton. Loving wife, JoAnn Law Carney, of Garland, Texas. Sister-in-law, Ernestine Spillers, of Garland, TX and his great grandson, Jacob Barton, of Callisburg, TX. He is survived by his three children, daughter, Linda (Doug) Walters; son, Michael D. Carney and daughter, Michele Baker, all of Mesquite, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren, Stephen Partridge (Terah), of Mesquite, TX. Lori Fitzgerald (Philip), of Gainesville, TX. Chris Walters(Joanne), of Crandall, TX, Shane (Carrie) Carney of Forney, TX, Brandon (Becca) Baker of China Springs, TX. As well, as 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also, he was survived by his uncle and aunt, Jim and Betty Belt, of Dallas, TX. Sisters-in-law, Soni Moore and Patsy Nichols of Garland, Texas. He left behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. Last, but not least, his faithful dog, Bear, whom he loved dearly. He grew up in Garland, TX. He went to work in the construction industry at an early age. He met his future wife, JoAnn Law, in Jackson, Ohio. They continued to travel with construction work until their children were born. His last large construction job and most proudest accomplishment would be working in Alaska on the Trans Alaskan Pipeline System. He loved and worked the majority of his life in Garland, Texas. He was a proud member of the Garland Elks Lodge Chapter #1984 since 1969 and enjoyed lifetime friendships with his lodge brothers and sisters. The last few years of his life he resided in Mesquite, Texas. A special thank you to the Hospice Plus Staff. Their support and comfort helped him and his family in the last few months of his life. A graveside service for Doug Carney will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
