Mr. Carl Henry Spreckelsen's Obituary
SPRECKELSEN, CARL HENRY, our beloved husband and dad passed away Friday, December 29, 2006. He is survived by the love of his life, Ruthie; brother Dave Spreckelsen (Concord, CA); mother-in-law, Dorothy Smith (Monroe, UT); children, Cindy Pepperdine and husband Dave (Frisco, TX), Tricia Garrett and husband Bruce (SLC, UT), Dorothy Warren and husband Dave (Cumming, GA), Shawna Smith and husband Bruce (Murray, UT), Charlie Spreckelsen and wife Helene (McKinney, TX); 19 beloved grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 5 granddogs. Carl is preceeded in death by his sweet grandchildren Jacob Bruce Garrett and Anna Dutson; parents Blanche and A.R. Spreckelsen; brothers, Marvin and Beverly Spreckelsen. Dad was born June 28, 1928 in Fort Bragg, CA along with his twin David. They grew up “in the greatest place and time a kid could know”. He graduated in 1946 from Ukiah High School, Ukiah, CA. He kept in contact with many great friends and loved ones by attending most of his high school and “kind garden” reunions. Carl married Ruthie Smith on June 25, 1950. A few years later they moved to Dallas where he started a long career in insurance sales for the Banker’s Life Co. and Principal Financial Group. Over the years he served on many committies and boards for the industry. Carl was a long time supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and served also as a scout master. He was the longest serving volunteer on the Dallas Police Community Awards Committee. Carl was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he selflessly served in many callings. Most importantly he was the best Dad and “Pa-Pa” ever. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. with a viewing from 12:00-1:45 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 14740 Meandering Way. Memorial donations can be made to BSA Circle 10 Council.
