Carlita Lavonne Pedersen's Obituary
PEDERSEN, CARLITA L., a resident of McKinney, passed away on June 4th after a long illness. She was 88. Carlita was born on February 18, 1920 on a farm in Monona County, Iowa to Howard P. McKean and Rose E. Armstrong McKean and was the third of seven children. She moved at an early age to Neola, Iowa where she attended Neola Public School and graduated High School as valedictorian in May 1937. She moved with her parents to Omaha, Nebraska where she met Woidmand Pedersen and married him on August 30, 1940. Woidmand (Pete) was a Sergeant in the Army and she traveled with him during the war years. They returned to Omaha in 1940 where they lived until his death in February 2000. During those years she worked at Insurance Services Office until her retirement. She moved in October of 2004 to McKinney to live with her son Harry and his wife Linda. Carlita was an accomplished and published poet, a Member and Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, twice President of Narcissus Kensington Club and a wonderful mother. She is survived by her three children, Thomas J. Pedersen of Clarinda, Iowa, Dixie J. France of St. Louis, Missouri and Harry H. Pedersen of McKinney, Texas, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, her brother Everett of Kingman, Arizona her brother Jerry of Exeter, Missouri and her sister Patti of Arroya Grande, California. Carlita was pre-deceased by her husband Woidmand, her sisters Twila Barbour and Alice Griese, her brother Ransom and her grandson Michael Pedersen. There will be Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 11th at 10 AM at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 821 South Greenville Ave., Allen, Texas where a memorial Fund had been established.
