Carol "Bill" William Jones' Obituary
Carol William (“Bill”) Jones, a war veteran in the United States Navy, died on October 15, 2020 at the age of 90. The youngest of five children, Bill was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma in 1929 to Arthur Jones and Mary Ford Jones. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and attended a year of law school. For 24 years, Bill was an officer in the U.S. Navy, and proudly served his country in the Korean and Vietnam wars. In 1954, he married Ruth Egneto, beginning their wonderful 66-year marriage. Together, Bill and Ruth lived in Taiwan, California, Hawaii, Spain and Virginia. After his retirement from the Navy in 1975, Bill moved to Richardson, and worked for state of Texas until he retired in 1995.
Bill loved traveling the world, carefully tending to his vegetable garden, and playing competitive bridge. He visited all 50 states; he was a member of St. Paul's The Apostle Catholic Church; and he was invariably kind and supportive. He was proud of his daughters, his son, and his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife and best friend, Ruth Jones; his three daughters, Alice Elliott (Mike), Patty Baron (Jeff), Janet Tooke (Stacy); and his six grandchildren, Matthew Baron (Orchid), Daniel Baron, Rachel Baron, Kelly Tooke, Dylan Barbera, and Paul Tooke. Bill’s family would like to thank all his friends, neighbors, and care givers who have helped over the past few years. Your friendship and love means everything to us.
