Carol Frances Gainer's Obituary
Carol Frances Bell Gainer of Double Oak, Texas passed away on September 16, 2021 in Lewisville, Texas.
She was born on November 21, 1936 in Oklahoma City to Francis Folsom Bell and Etta Lee Stockstill Bell as their first child. They soon moved to Dallas, Texas where later, Carol attended Hillcrest High School and then Southern Methodist University as a music major. Carol was also a member of Highland Park Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the choir. She met and fell in love with James Morgan Gainer Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and they were happily married for 65 yrs. They had 2 daughters, Debbie and Carrie.
Carol spent most of her years being a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, Girl Scout leader, and cook for her beloved family. She returned to studies at the University of Texas at Dallas and graduated on the Dean's List with honors in accounting, and then worked a few years for the IRS as a CPA.
Together with James, they designed their dream home in Dallas, Texas, and began enjoying collecting many beautiful antiques. Besides the family and fun, Carol loved nature and birds, playing Bridge and Bunko with friends, as well as actively participating on a Lewisville Bowling League, winning several awards and pins.
Later, after retirement, Carol began suffering from dementia and she and James moved into assisted living together. Carol soon moved into Memory Care, where James, out of his deep love for her, joined her. She lost James on December 27, 2020 due to complications of the Covid virus.
Carol loved a little collection of stuffed dogs that she called " The Boys". She lovingly kept them where they could "see" out of the window of her room in Memory Care, and would even sneak chips from the dining area back to her room to feed her "boys" that she so loved.
Carol never forgot her family, and whenever asked what she needed, she would always reply " my husband ". On February 5, 2021, Carol prayed together with her daughter Debbie, over the phone, to ask Jesus to be her personal Savior and Lord. We know that now she is so happy to be re-united again with James, as she deeply wanted, and in Heaven with him and Jesus and her loved ones.
Carol was a Mom who was always there for her family. We were so blessed to have her for our mother! The morning she passed, after the caregiver had awakened her and gotten her ready for the day, she was tired, and laid back down to rest a little more. Before falling asleep, her last words were telling her caregiver "I love you".
Carol is survived by 2 brothers : Francis Folsom Bell of Dallas, Texas, and John David Bell, MD of Aledo, Texas ; her 2 daughters : Deborah Lynne Aguilar of Lewisville, Texas, and Carrie Lou Gallegos of Flower Mound, Texas ; 3 grandchildren:
Delaina Elizabeth McBride of Woodbridge, Virginia; Melissa Lynne Mayo of Ft. Worth, Texas ; and Robert James Mayo of Austin, Texas. Also, 5 great-grandchildren : Evelyn Grace Mayo, Aiden Daniel McBride, Riley James Mayo, Connor Jeremy McBride, and Elliott Rose Kerr-Mayo.
