Carol was born to Bill and Alice Fursman in Lafayette, LA, moving to Dallas as a young girl and growing up with plenty of room for their family horses to roam. Carol grew up as the tomboy in a family of girls, a perfect mixture as a Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and Barrel Racing wild child. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Texas Tech University as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Carol met Gerald shortly before finishing her time at university, and they fell fast in love, cherishing 60 years of life together.
Carol was a devoted member of Tell My People and Josh McDowell Ministries, serving on the board of Tell My People for many years, passionately devoted to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus around the world.
Carol was gifted at "taking the ordinary and making it beautiful"; she could always be found with dirt under her fingernails from freshly planted flowers and blossoming trees. She left a legacy of beauty in her crafting of wedding floral arrangements and home and neighborhood landscape designs, starting her own landscape design business for over 40 years in the greater Dallas area. Her reputation of exceptional artistry preceded her, winning her a feature in Southern Living Magazine.
Carol was deeply devoted to her faith, family, and life-ling friendships. She is survived and cherished by her husband Gerald, her daughter Noel and son-in-law Clay, son Wayne and daughter-in-law Kristynn, 5 Granddaughters, Rachel, Kaylaynn, Emilee, Kaleb and Selah-Rae, 3 Great-Grandchildren, Hudson, Phoebe and Georgia, and her beloved sisters, Ann and Suzy, and their families.
