Carol Janice Miller's Obituary
Carol Janice Miller, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 85.
She was born on February 8, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to George D. King and Oleta P. King.
Janice married the love of her life, Eugene C. “Gene” Miller, on July 15, 1960, in Dallas, Texas. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and love.
Janice will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strong church faith in God, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking, sewing, watching game shows, and especially spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a special fondness for red birds, often finding comfort and meaning in their presence. She was lovingly known as “Mom,” “Niecy,” and “Mamaw.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. “Gene” Miller; her parents, George D. King and Oleta P. King; son-in-law, David Leos; and her brother-in-law, Leon Gornto.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Miller Caperton and her husband, Glenn, and Darlene Leos; her grandchildren, Tiffany Verrett, Clark Caperton, and Josh Caperton; and her great-grandchildren, Javien, Trae, Nevaeh, Rory, and Mary. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Gornto, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Bob Gilliam. A graveside service and lunch will follow at the Restland Event Center.
Janice’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the care and support provided by the medical staff at Highland Meadows and Trinity Hospice. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
