Carol Burke Reed's Obituary
REED, CAROL BURKE CLINGER born September 25, 1943 to Charles B. Clinger and Ruth K. Clinger and passed quietly on September 4, 2012. She loved and cherished her husband, Dave, her son Robert Burns, her daughter, Susan Flessner, her brother, Bob and her five grandchildren. Carol was a member of Highland Park United Methoodist Church and a member of In His Steps Bible Class. Her creativity was expressed in her art. Under her brush the reality of God’s world came alive. When gazing on Carol’s seascapes, one can feel the ocean spray on their face and hear the waves crashing against the rocks. Fields of swaying Texas Bluebonnets came to life in her paintings. While attending Southern Methodist University, the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Houston, Carol studied design, drawing and art history. Many emerging artist have matured under Carol’s tutelage. She demonstrated painting techniques for groups and television programs. As art inpacted Carol’s life, she influenced the lives of all those she met. Her loving, caring spirit was continually evident. She cared deeply for the needs of her friends and acquaintances and never met a stranger. Faithfully, she would check on others and pray for their every need. Lovingly her husband, Dave, cared for her during the last several years. Their love for each other and their friendship has sustained them nearly forty years of closeness which led to a joyful life. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 7, Restland Memorial Chapel.
